| Match Report: |
Having won the toss County Hall elected to bat first against top of the table Chipperfield Clarendon III and the decision looked to be a bad one as the wickets tumbled, Mahmood (4 for 53) doing the damage with a touch of swing and some seam.
County Hall were reeling on 29 for 3. It was Matt Barnaby (44) and Rob Mitchell (32) who restored some dignity with some fine batting, both playing elegant strokes, until they were both bowled.
County Hall were 113 for 6 and it was Rob Maslanka (23 n/o) and man of the match Chris Barnaby (26 n/o) who took the game by the scruff of the neck, dispatching the bowlers to all parts for a fine 60 partnership, giving County Hall a respectable 217 for 8 after 53 overs.
Chipperfield Clarendon started brightly with Jansen (60) taking a liking to the loose bowling on offer until being caught by Marsh off Mitchell (1 for 32).
Some smart fielding (and poor running) saw Smith (23) run out, Sharp effecting the throw and Archer whipping off the bails. Finch (61), who started painfully slowly before building up to some solid hitting was tempted out of his crease by the guile of Marsh to be stumped by Chris Barnaby.
However it was all too late as Durrant and Hillman ensured that the total was reached easily due to some very friendly bowling. Chipperfield Clarendon reaching the target with 7 overs to spare having only lost 4 wickets.
