| Match Report: |
Going into their final League game of the season against Waltham Cross Rosedale, County Hall new they would be crowned Division Three champions should they win the game. This they did after a superb innings from Andrew Szemiako saw them defeat Rosedale by 6 wickets at Leahoe.
Rosedale had won the toss and elected to bat, but found scoring hard work, adding just 42 runs off the first twenty overs. The arrival of Mark Gentle changed things however, and he helped himself to a fine century with some hard hitting before being caught on the boundary off the last ball of the innings, leaving Rosedale posting a total of 228-7.
County Hall were always up with the run rate, but at 119-4 the game could easily have gone either way. However, Szemiako and Tommy Barnaby, who ended 49 not out, put on an unbeaten partnership of 110 runs for the 5th wicket to win the game with 4 overs to spare.
This was Szemiako's 3rd League century and by far his best and most important. There were the usual big shots , but his innings was mixed with intelligence and caution where necessary. Szemi's finest hour!
