| Match Report: |
County Hall still wait to secure promotion to division 2 after a tense stalemate against Hatfield. Asked to bat first county hall got off to a solid start with John Schlaepfer(54) and Wayne Langton(38) putting on 88 for the first wicket in 23 overs.200+ looked likely but nerves seemed to set in and we stumbled to 129 for 7 in 38 overs. Skipper Chris Graves(27) and Mike Jones(28not out) pushed county hall up to a average 187-9 off 53 overs, about 30 short off par. In the field Mikey Jones had danger man Bond(4) caught in the second over. Good bowling kept Hatfield down to 88-4 with 20 overs left but hard hitting from Desai(52)always kept Hatfield in the hunt. Solid batting saw Hatfield need 13 off the last two overs. Chris Graves bowled a excellent over to leave 11 off the last. It went right down to the last ball and needing 5 for victory Whitehead(42 not out)couldn't clear the ropes and so a draw it was.
