| Match Report: |
A more conventional win on saturday to strengthen our grip on third place.
Normal service was resumed when the skipper called correctly yet again and we were able to bat first as usual. However St Albans opening bowler Rajendram was able to extract lift and movement from the wicket which troubled all the batsmen in his opening spell. He accounted for John and Dev which brought Szem to the crease for the shortest stay this season before being, ahem, adjudged LBW. When Sid spooned one in the air and was caught in the covers, CH were reduced to 75-4 after 29 overs.
The innings was steadied by a partnership of 67 between Mumfs and Tom who then both got themselves out with the score on 142. A further 39 was posted between skipper and vice with a final flurry from Batch to close the innings at 190-7 at tea, probably 10/20 short of where we would have liked to have been.
A back twinge saw Gravesey only bowl the one over before the introduction of Bigman who struck immediately to have Chaplin plumb infront. A flurry of boundaries and wickets then followed to leave the home team in some trouble. Elmer took wickets in successive balls at which point Gravesey's back twinge seemed to disappear to clean up the tail and leave a comfortable victory margin of 68 runs with over 12 overs remaining.
