| Match Report: |
Once again Chris Graves won the toss and chose to bat at Bishops Stortford. Openers Andy Bartlett (27) and John Schlaepfer put on 53 for the 1st wicket in good time before the heavens opened, causing a half an hour break in the innings.
With each innings now reduced by 4 overs, Adrian Devine and Schlaepfer put on 125 for the 2nd wicket and it looked as though the visitors would post a total in the region of 240+. However, Devine's dismissal for 83 resulted in a mini collapse as the new batsmen tried to score quickly too early. This collapse included a hat-trick for the Bishops Stortford left arm spinner Tom Ryder. However, Schlaepfer was able to carry his bat, finishing on 91 as County Hall ended their innings on 226-7.
The visitors got off to a flying start as Mike Jones had Sattar caught in the gully in the first over. He then followed this up by removing Sattar's fellow opener Brooks in his second over. Chris Graves then took the wicket of Stark to leave the home side reeling at 4-3 after just 4 overs.
Unfortunately, the heavens opened once again and the rain break meant that the Stortford innings was reduced to a total of 34 overs. After the break, Adrian Wacey (35) and capatin Harry Bass (30) took the attack to the County Hall bowlers. They put on 65 for the 4th wicket before Ian Hibbeard broke the partnership by having Wacey caught at mid off. He followed this up by removing Bass, caught at mid on.
Jones then removed the late middle order, but Ollie Williams (22) offered late resistance with the tail, taking the game to the 34th and final over. Williams was able to hold out for four balls before Jones removed his off stump with a beauty to take his first League 5 wicket haul and earn himself the man of the match award. County Hall's victory leaves them 2nd in the Division 3 table after 8 games and the only side in the Division with an unbeaten record.
